Call for Art: Place Setting

The Politits: Art Coalition is honored to announce an open call for our 3rd annual juried exhibition: Place Setting, held at The Yards in Rochester, NY. Place Setting is inspired by the idea of the dinner table, a place where artists are welcome to join in conversation, to share, reflect and organize during a time of unrest. This show is for those who are feeling unheard, fed-up, full of rage and are looking for support from their fellow creatives.

Place Setting is focused on supporting artists who have historically been underrepresented in the arts. This year, we will accept work from up to 40 artists, focusing on submissions from female-identifying (and gender non-conforming), POC, and LGBTQ artists that encourage place, space, and togetherness in trying times. We are searching for diversity in process, materiality, and vision; free from censorship.

This exhibition is a way of welcoming folks to our table; opening up places to those who have been traditionally passed over within the art community. We offer you a place, set for those who have art, vision and most importantly tenderness to share.

Two awards will be offered in this exhibition!

Politits at the 6×6 Opening Party

The Politits Art Coalition made an appearance at RoCo’s 6×6 Opening Party. As you can see, our 6th member Tina Star was here in spirit… and in lips!

Our artwork is on display in the Lab Space (we’re party #9!). You can stop by the 6×6 exhibition to pick up original works of art by the members of the Politits Art Coalition for only $20 (all proceeds benefit the Rochester Contemporary Art Center).

Posing for the Politits at 6×6! Big thanks to Director Bleu Cease (left) for putting together such an exciting exhibition.
